At the foundation of today’s knowledge economy rests a country’s ability to innovate in core technology areas. The semiconductor domain is fast becoming a core technology area, contributing to a country’s technological and economic strength.

India Semiconductor Association (ISA) is committed to building and strengthening a semiconductor ecosystem in India. To encourage innovation in semiconductor research, ISA, in association with the VLSI Society of India (VSI) now institutes the Technovation Awards. This year’s categories are: TechnoVisionary, TechnoMentor, TechnoShield and TechnoInventor.

This award has been instituted to recognize and honor a visionary in the semiconductor space, who have over the years made seminal contributions that have made a difference to the semiconductor ecosystem globally. The awardee’s path-breaking contributions could be in academics, research or industry.

The award would honor academicians who have played a significant role either as a mentor or as a researcher in the semiconductor field. The award would take into account his or her contributions in the academic year, 2006-07.

This award recognizes excellence achieved in ISA’s domain(s) of interest by an educational institute in India. The awardee could be a research entity, laboratory, institute or department of a college/university.

The awards have been introduced for a post-graduate thesis and a doctoral thesis that demonstrate brilliance in academic investigation.
