Ram Agarwal took over as
Managing Director and CEO leading a team of about 200 employees.
Prior to WeP, Ram Agarwal founded Wipro’s
Peripherals Division known as PSD. Wipro’s Peripheral
business grew from a Rs. 40 crore business to currently
about 232 crores business now. WeP Peripherals as Wipro
ePeripherals was then known, has been transformed into a
debt free, continuously growing IT peripherals solution
and service enterprise.
Ram Agarwal has been an active member for
MAIT’s (Manufacturers Association for Information
Technology) Executive Council, as well as Vice President
and President of MAIT.
Mr Agarwal has been at the Administrative
Staff College of India (ASCI), Hyderabad, a premier management
institute for experienced managers. He was the founder member
of the computer division. He worked with Glaxo for a short
period and then joined Western India Vegetable Products
(as Wipro was then known) and has worked his way up through
functions of sales, finance, international operations and
strategic planning.
Ram Agarwal attended an Advanced Management
Program at Harvard Business School in September 1999. He
also served as Corporate Executive Vice President responsible
for Mission Quality, Information Management and Corporation
wide initiatives in Wipro Brand. During this period he was
a member of Corporate Executive Council of Wipro Limited
and Director of Wipro GE Medical Systems Ltd.
Ram Agarwal graduated from IIT Kanpur in
1970 and completed his post graduation from IIM Calcutta
in 1972.
