Deki Electronics Limited, established with
a Japanese technical collaboration in 1984, is today a leader
in the business of Film Capacitors (Electronic Components)
in India. The company is one of the very few success stories
in the extremely competitive electronic component business.
This is the first segment of the Indian industry to face
a zero import duty (as a signatory to I.T.A- I under WTO
).
The company has achieved an average annualized
growth rate of 29% since 1992-93. Profitability has been
in the region of 10-15 % in spite of an average annual selling
price reduction of 7%.
Deki’s customers are major players
in the electronics business including Sony, Sanyo, JVC,
Panasonic, Philips, Videocon, Bharti and Osram. 25 % of
the sales is exported to 11 customers in 8 countries.
The systems are certified as per ISO 9001:
2000 and as per ISO 14000. The first certification (9002)
was received in 1994. The company has received several quality
and performance awards from its customers such as Sony and
Bharti, from Elcina (Electronic Industries Association of
India) and a second position from the Ministry of Communication
& Information Technology.
Deki has recently implemented a plan to
treble its annual manufacturing capacity to 480 million
capacitors. This has helped the company to grow to being
the 2nd largest manufacturer of inductive film capacitors
in the world.
