| Vision Summit
2006, held in February 8 & 9, 2006 in Bangalore was
a hugely successful event spearheaded the growth of a semiconductor
ecosystem in the country. The theme of the summit was ‘The
Triple Play of Design, Software and Manufacturing - India
leads the way for a new paradigm in semiconductors’.
Presentations by industry
experts such as Aurangzeb Khan
- Corporate Vice President, Cadence Design Systems Inc;
Dr. Biswadip Mitra - Managing
Director, Texas Instruments (India) Pvt. Ltd.; Rajeev
Madhavan - Chairman & CEO, Magma Design Automation
Inc.; Ted Vucurevich - Sr.
VP, CTO, Cadence Design Systems; Ulf
Schneider - Managing Director, Infineon Technologies
(India) Pvt. Ltd. and a host of others, highlighted the
opportunities that await India in the global semiconductor
landscape.
Delegates from countries such as Taiwan,
Singapore and China shared case studies and explored opportunities
of collaboration with India. These delegates included David
Keynan – Head, I2I Ventures, Israel; Damian Chan -
Head Electronics, EDB Singapore; Shirley Sun - Director
Sales, SMIC, People's Republic of China and Sajiv Dalal
- Director Business Management, TSMC Inc.
Vision Summit 2006 clearly established
the significance of chip manufacturing in India to complete
the semiconductor ecosystem. The focus on interdependence
of the three processes - design, software and manufacturing
brought to light the perceived need for a fundamental shift
in business models, technology directions and collaborative
strategies in the semiconductor space.
Delegate profile

Theme:
The Triple Play of Design, Software and Manufacturing
- India leads the way for a new paradigm in semiconductors
India has proven competence in software and semiconductor
design. Focused initiatives are on to support a domestic
semiconductor manufacturing industry. ISA, with strong backing
from within the industry and outside it, is setting into
motion the triple play paradigm of design, software and
manufacturing and facilitating the growth of the semiconductor
sector in India.
Exploring the Power of Three
Vision Summit 2006 provided a platform for the exchange
of ideas from key stake holders and global visionaries of
the semiconductor industry. There was representation from
the IDM, fabless, EDA and manufacturing segments as well
as investors and the user community. The event offered a
unique vision of the future where triple play paradigm offers
unprecedented economic opportunity and growth potential.
