The India Semiconductor Association (ISA), the trade body representing the Indian
semiconductor driven industry today announced Vision Summit 2008, the only business
leadership conference for leaders in this region. It is to be scheduled on February 18 & 19, 2008
at The Leela Palace, Bangalore with participation from senior executives within and outside
India.
The theme for this year's Vision Summit is on the evolving domestic market which is the growth
driver for the Indian electronics industry.

Amid a DRAM downturn and losses, Qimonda AG has revamped its 200-mm manufacturing
strategy. The DRAM maker also plans to end 200-mm production with two foundry partners:
Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp. (SMIC) and Winbond Electronics Corp.
Germany's Qimonda (Munich) will discontinue its contract manufacturing deal for 200-mm
wafers from its former parent, Infineon Technologies AG.

that's willing to pay more for green products, a researcher said Monday. Fully 12% of U.S.
adults, or 25 million Americans, are willing to pay extra for gadgets that use less energy or

Research said. These "bright green" buyers are the vanguard of an emerging consumer market
that will be an attractive target for technology companies. |

Moser Baer Photo Voltaic (MBPV), a wholly owned subsidiary of Moser Baer India, has
announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of
Rajasthan for setting up of a large solar power project in the state with an estimated generation capacity of 1 ~ 5MW. The project will be the largest grid-connected solar farm in
India and entails an investment of around Rs.100 crore at Rs.17.80 crore ($4.5 million) per MW. |

The forecast indicates that, following 23 percent market growth in 2006, the equipment
market will grow three percent in 2007. Survey respondents expect the market to decline
about two percent in 2008, and then post growth in the high single digits in 2009 and 2010 to
reach $47.99 billion in 2010. "Sales of semiconductor manufacturing, testing, assembly and
packaging equipment are at levels slightly above last year, and will result in 2007 being the
industry’s second strongest year on record," said Stanley T. Myers, president and CEO of SEMI. |
